At the invitation of the Romanian Institute for Nuclear Physics and Engineering, Mr. Peter J. Hughes presented an overview of the Risk Accounting method at the “Risks and Opportunities for Large Scale Infrastructures” event on December 7th, 2017 in Măgurele, Romania.

The event took place in the Extreme Light Infrastructure campus, one of the world’s largest laser and gamma ray research facilities. The audience was formed of researchers, professionals and academics from both Romanian and Bulgarian institutions as part of an EU project aimed at identifying common, leading-edge frameworks for risk management in large scale, critical infrastructures.

Peter provided an overview of ongoing research, which he is leading at the Durham University Business School in the UK, on risk accounting and its ground-breaking method of identifying, quantifying and aggregating enterprise risks. His talk stimulated a lively discussion on the potential transportability of the risk accounting method, originally designed for the banking sector, to the scientific research field including large, critical infrastructure management projects.

During the event, Peter was interviewed by “Radio Romania News”, the national news radio station which was broadcast to over 6 million listeners.
